NUS ILSA TARI
Established in the early eighties, the NUS Malay Dance was renamed the NUS
Ilsa Tari in 1998.With its new identity, the group aims to stage more
challenging pieces. Under the guidance of tutor/choreographer Osman Abdul Hamid,
the People's Association Malay Dance Group's choreographer and Singapore's Young
Artist Award winner, the group performs traditional dances such as inang,
ronggeng, zapin, lambak and silat. It also blends contemporary dance
forms - where dancers move with free flow of sharp movements - with
its traditional pieces. This results in traditional and contemporary
dance fusions.
OUR CHOREOGRAPHER
Osman Abdul Hamid joined the People Association and the former Sriwana
Mala Dance Groups in 1979 and was trained by Mr Nongchik Ghani, Mr Saileh
Buang and Mdm Som Said. A tutor/choreographer of the NUS Ilsa Tari since
1995, he is also the choreographer of the Peoples Associations Malay Dance
Group. His works are often presented together with music.
He has represented Singapore at four ASEAN Performing Arts Festivals and in
many overseas cultural exchange programmes. Osman has been conferred the prestigious Singapore Youth Award
(Service) and the Young Artist Award by the National Arts Council.
OUR VISION
To create platforms for us to showcase our passion and skills in contemporary Malay Dance.
OUR MISSION
Our current mission is to develop and nurture committed, passionate and skilled dancers. Furthermore, we aim to participate in active outreach to the Malay arts community through performance and school events.

It is less than a week before the start of exams and everyone are in jitters!
The ilsa dancers have been mugging either secretly (or non at all) and openly in school, starbuck chains around Singapore as well as at home. :) We all cannot wait to finish the exams and start dancing already! :(
Kudos to the Teater Tari Era dancers on a great performance in front of world leaders last weekend! :) Superb! Although we were only able to see snippets of it, but with the calibre of the dancers I'm sure all went well! :)
So as of now, although I have not been blogging and updating much of this blog.. No worries, come 1st December it shall be updated enough for all to read and share. <3
Much love and all the best to all who are having their exams during this period. :)
ALL THE BEST EVERYONE! :)
XOXO

Ilsa dancers have been busy with practices for the upcoming Dance Reflections - Body Language.
Thus, we decided that we had to have a break from all the dance practices! Thus, the idea of going cycling came into mind. Mind you, this is NO leisure cycling okay. Although most of the dancers have not cycled since eons ago, and we can barely remember how to cycle, we decided to cycle from Changi through Pasir Ris, Tampines, Bedok to East Coast Park and back to Changi in 1 Day.
If only you could be there and see how our tired faces look like and how much complaining was going on throughout the 5hrs cycling trip (which of course was filled with taking pictures, resting, playing the swing, having a break at Bedok Corner, resting, taking pictures and more resting! )!!
Although we felt tired after the whole entire trip, it sure was an experience that the dancers would not forget! And of course what is a blog entry without pictures from the day's event! :)
Look at the excited faces! we were still in Changi!! :)
Zakiah with her emo pose after cycling for hours and finally reaching CHANGI back! :))
The view was too nice to not take a picture! :) And presenting the cyclers for the day:
Sukma and her sexy red bikee!
Jo feeling tired after everything.. :)
Zakiah with her sungguh maitain smile!
Siti with her cari gadoh face! :))
And of course Kak Siti with Khalid! :)
The ROCK before we started with the runway which was OMG soo nice to cycle okay!
WE DID IT!!
After all the trials and tribulations, after the complaining and stop-it faces!
HAHA.
Last photo for the day before we all went to chill at Farahin's hse! :)
Well, school starts TODAY! So enjoy school life for now! :) Till next time!
